Court nullifies interim order obtained by diplomat against Foreign Ministry
Oct 9 (ST) The Court of Appeal has dissolved an interim injunction preventing the removal of B.R.P.M.A. Devendra from the position of minister from Sri Lanka’s Counsel General office in Melbourne, Australia. Mr Devendra obtained an injunction against the implementation of a Foreign Ministry directive issued on August 15. Oct 9 (EN) Sri Lanka has witnessed US$ 787 million inflows as foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first nine months of this year including foreign loans by companies registered under the Board of Investment (BOI). Sri Lanka had attracted US$ 121.8 million from new projects, and 665.2 million from companies already in Sri Lanka under BOI registration. Sri Lanka surpasses 1.75mn tourist arrivals YTD driven by Asian demand in early October
Oct 9 (DM) Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has logged a successful entry into the final quarter of the year, with tourist arrivals from Oct 1-6 reaching 34,046. This six-day period shows a growth of 31.12%, compared to the 25,965 arrivals recorded during the same period in 2024. This strong performance has propelled the year-to-date (YTD) total to 1,759,540, officially surpassing the 1.75 million milestone and locking in a robust YTD growth of approximately 16.2% compared to 2024.

29 mobile phones found in Boossa high-security prison

Two arrested for defrauding Rs. 200 million by promising employment in Europe
